Netsol’s Global Management Center (GMC) has been assessed for BS 15000 -1:2002 specifications for IT Service Management under the ITSMF BS 15000 Certification Scheme. The certificate was issued on 8 December 2005 by BSI Management Systems (United Kingdom). GMC is also BS 7799 Certified since 15 June 2004 by BSI.

BS 15000-1 is the formal specification and defines the requirements for an organization to deliver managed services of an acceptable quality for its customers. The scope includes: Requirements for a management system; Planning and implementing service management; Planning and implementing new or changed services; Service delivery process; Relationship processes; Resolution processes; Control processes; and Release processes.

BS 15000-2 is the Code of Practice and describes the best practices for Service Management processes within the scope of BS 15000-1. The code of Practice will be of particular use to organizations preparing to be audited against BS 15000-1 or planning service improvements.

BS 15000 is a focused specification for IT service management. As opposed to ISO9000, its terminology is that of IT service management and all types of assessment needs to be carried out by competent auditors in order to provide a company with an assessment report and a certificate if successful, which will be totally aligned with the company’s IT service management business.

BS15000 addresses only the IT Service Management processes, and the supporting Management System. Adoption of BS 15000 is therefore relevant to those organizations which specifically wish to target their IT Service Management processes, and is not directly related to the adoption or continuance of ISO9000.

Should the principal purpose of one’s business be ITSM, then BS15000 is virtually essential.

All businesses large and small will be interested in BS 15000, as it is the recognized means of benchmarking the delivery of IT to the business.
